Kinggrey

Heavy guitars and split signals, dark vocal effects, breakbeats and synaesthesia

Formed in 2021 from a spherical synth rock band and a crisp stoner rock band, "King Grey" moves in booming depths and varied rhythms. The three experienced Berliners call it heavy desert rock.

Aspiration-compulsory freestyle

The band is always exploring new facets of their power trio possibilities. Carsten's bass also takes on the task of lead guitar, while Maximilian's vocal spectrum ranges from melodic whispering to powerful, aggressive tones. This structure is punched into shape by Philip with powerful rhythms. "We sound like..." they wouldn't say, but their musical influences clearly lie around Josh Homme, Dave Grohl, Charles Michael

Parks Jr., Alain Johannes and Troy van Leeuwen.

“King Grey” let Carstens ability to hear colors flow into their music. Maximilian weaves these synesthetic impressions into the autofictional lyrics of the debut EP “King Grey”. The seven-minute song “alice blue (king grey)” presents the context: The grey king, the only colorless inhabitant of a colorful kingdom, is

desperately trying to achieve color through rituals. Each song describes different situations and feelings that the Grey King wants to use to achieve this – so far in vain. The recording was made in April 2022 by Mario Engelter in Studio K61 in Berlin  - Weißensee.
